I’m super thrilled to announce that I am the inaugural winner of @BeMakeful ‘s Landscape Artist of the Year Canada! Words can not express how grateful and excited I am to have participated in such a unique experience, but to also claim the top prize!
Artist from across Canada were chosen to participate in live a plein-air painting competition at three unique locations in Southern Ontario. Although I was not chosen, I was invited as a ‘wild card’ particpant to paint on one of the days of competition. We would compete amongst our own group separate from the main competitors. Luck had it I was selected to advance to the finale, where we painted in the beautiful Muskoka.
It was a very fast-paced experience and felt all too surreal. It was a pleasure to paint alongside fellow artists and share this awesome experience and very grateful for the new friendships I made a long the way.

My winning piece ‘Between Two Pines’ is on view until April 19th in the Founders’ Lounge; the heart of the McMichael family’s former home. The painting will be displayed on an easel belonging to Canadian art pioneer Tom Thomson and subsequently used by the Group of Seven’s A.Y. Jackson
